We'll begin with a brief intro session to go over the features of a single lens reflex (SLR) camera and pertinent functions. This will take roughly half an hour in the classroom.
Mechanics & Exposure Theory
The art of photography cannot be learned until mechanics of the camera are firmly understood. In this portion of the workshop we will cover what all of the numbers on the camera mean (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal length, etc.). We will go over exposure theory and how to properly expose a frame, what to look for in a proper exposure, and how to maximize the available light.
After a couple hours in a classroom, you'll be ready to get out and use what you've learned! Depending on the day the group chooses we will head to a local park, feature, or highlight to practice exposures and learning elements of composition. We will cover the use of depth of field, geometry, lines, proportioning, and the basics of light (quality, directionality, contrast, color, etc.).
